Course Description

Ayurvedic wisdom claims that “When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use. When diet is correct, medicine is of no need.”

Ayurvedic masters tell us that the single most important thing we can do for our health is to cook at home with our own two hands. This course invites you to work with the genius of Ayurveda to create personally tailored, healthy and delicious meals for yourself, your family, your clients.

In this course I invite you in to my kitchen where we begin with the Ayurvedic principles, sample the six tastes and the science of creating balanced meals, move on to set up the Ayurvedic kitchen, learn about spices and cook up the meals that constitute the essence of Ayurvedic nutrition, including sides and snacks, tonics and teas – and finally demonstrate a few make-at-home healing remedies to help restore and reignite.

Required Prep

Please have on hand the following items: banana, apple, favorite berry, lemon, lime, arugula, cilantro, turmeric, ginger, fennel seed, mint. Plus optionally, aloe, kale, carrot, basil.

Laura Plumb is the author of the the best-selling book Ayurveda Cooking For Beginners, the writer and host of a 53-part tv series called VedaCleanse and of a 12-part series called Divine Yoga. As a graduate of the Kerala Ayurveda Academy and the American Institute of Vedic Studies, she is a leading educator on the power of the Vedic sciences to promote sacred, sumptuous living.

Formerly the General Manager of The Discovery Channel Europe, Laura is the founder/director of VedaWise, offering clinical services in natural medicine for whole person wellness and trainings in the Vedic sciences. She offers classes and consultations in Ayurveda, Jyotish, Yoga Therapy, Whole Food Cooking and Nutrition, serves as a contributing Ayurvedic educator at the UCSD Center for Integrative Medicine and The Sevanti Institute, teaches at wellness centers and festivals internationally, is a monthly contributor to Spirituality & Health, as well as an Ambassador for Banyan Botanicals.
